LESBOS. Koinon of Lesbos. Marcus Aurelius, 161-180. Hexassarion (Bronze, 39 mm, 24.24 g, 6 h), Kor. Nigrinos, strategos, circa 166-169. ΑΥ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥΡΗΛΙΟ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟ ΠΑΡ Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Marcus Aurelius to right, seen from behind. Rev. ΕΠΙ ϹΤΡΑ KOP NIΓΡΙΝΟΥ / ΚOΙ ΛΕϹΒΙΩΝ Dionysiac herm standing facing on prow to left, flanked by Athena, on the left, standing right, resting her right hand on shield set on ground and holding spear in her left, and Dionysos, on the right, standing left, holding kantharos in his right hand and thyrsos in his left. BMC 1. RPC IV.2 online 366. Extremely rare and with a wonderful rendering of the Dionysiac herm on the reverse. Some traces of cleaning and with minor deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
